"Do you know what it’s like to take your last breath? Of course you don’t. You struggle, make bargains with invisible gods, but ultimately, you lose, and there's nothing that can stop you from disappearing into the abyss. And if you're me, you get to experience that over and over again. They wiped my memory clean, so every time I experienced it, I thought it was the first and only time. Except the program glitched. Three hundred years of death, of fear, of terror all rushed back in a single, solitary second. It’s hell. Every second of my existence is hell.

Three centuries ago, I was supposed to die. Think of this as fixing a clerical error. Putting a ghost to rest. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Just saying the words out loud makes me feel almost... happy."
Overview
Dumping my Noct ooc intro summary here until I can write a proper thingy:

Long story short, Rev was a professional Mercenary Syndicate hitman/assassin (considered the best of them) who after his death was turned into an immortal murderbot without his consent. He spent nearly 300 years trapped in a simulation believing he was still human and continuing to carry out hits for the Syndicate. Every time he "died" his memory was wiped and he was reuploaded into a new body. And then one day his programming finally decayed enough to break and he looked in the mirror and saw what he was and the memories of all of his thousands of deaths came crashing back into him all at once and it fucked him up a lot. He was ANGRY. He killed a lot of people connected to the Syndicate and to the company that turned him into a murderbot. The Syndicate decided to trap him in an extremely popular televised bloodsport that they run after he assassinated their newest competitor on live tv, hoping that giving him a place where he could kill anyone he wanted would stop him killing people they didn't want him to. And hey, turns out villains are good for ratings.

Needless to say, he's tired of all this shit and really just wants to die, but the only way he can is if his "source code" — his old human head, preserved for centuries and hard-wired into the computer system that houses his programming — is destroyed. The canon point I'm taking him from is a short while after the woman who he enlisted to help him get hold of his source code, a professional thief who was the only one who could get past the security to grab it, decided that instead of giving him what he wanted and letting him die she was going to purposefully lose the damn thing in revenge for him killing her parents 25 years ago. So he's... angry. Angrier than usual? Super angry. And swore revenge on her in return because that's healthy.

Basically, edgy drama.
Personality
[Copied from Noctium app, will be expanded and formatted properly later when I have time.]

Aggression: Probably the first thing that really stands out about Revenant is how extremely angry he is. At his situation. At other people. At the entire world. This is most noticeable in his generally aggressive and domineering attitude. In truth, he's overcompensating to an extreme for how powerless he feels. He was trapped in a simulation for nearly 300 years, used as a weapon with no idea of what had been done to him. Now that he's broken free of it, he's desperate to regain some sense of control of his own life. It doesn't help much, but it's the only way he knows how to cope. Frequently falling back on taunts, threats, and physical violence, in truth he's actually just incredibly pathetic and ineffectual. He's still shackled by his programming and tormented by his inability to end his suffering. Those who aren't immediately put off by his impotent rage may recognise the wounded animal hidden underneath, snarling and snapping in self-defence.

Narcissism: Called out as a narcissist by another character in canon, Revenant certainly fits the bill. He's extremely self-centred and believes everything revolves around him, though most definitely not in a positive manner. He has a bad habit of projecting his own feelings and motives onto other people, and cannot cope with the idea that they don't care about him as much as he thinks they do. He insists that certain people are obsessed with him (when in reality he is the one obsessed) and that everything they do is them scheming and plotting against him. He has expressed the belief that the entire universe is conspiring against him to make him miserable. Everything is always about him, even when it's not. He tends to act jealous, arrogant, and superior. He struggles to cope with anything or anyone that criticises or challenges his way of thinking, and will fly into a rage if they do. Of course, as is usually the case with narcissists, this is all a cover for his own insecurities, his shame, and his feelings of weakness.

Self-loathing: Revenant despises himself. He finds his robotic body hideous and shameful. He is repulsed by his own powerlessness. He harbours an intense hatred for the human he once was. He believes that he is a monster, and insists that everyone else must see him the same way. He exaggerates his own negative traits to an extreme, especially when talking about himself directly. That's not to say that he's not a terrible person — he absolutely is — but he goes out of his way to make sure that everyone knows it. He makes a habit of trying to get under people's skin, needling at any weakness or insecurity he finds, targeting them where it hurts the most to ensure that they hate or fear him. At one point a cult had formed in worship of him, which he expressed an extreme distaste for, because the very concept of anyone seeing him as some kind of messiah disgusts him. People who refuse to hate him infuritate him. People who insist that he is a victim, or that he must have some good in him somewhere, make him rage. It may seem strange, but in fact it's just his own way of justifying everything that has happened to him. If there was ever an ounce of good in him, it might mean that he doesn't deserve his eternal torment.

Self-destructiveness: It's probably understandable that Revenant is incredibly, severely depressed. When his programming finally broke, the previously wiped memories of hundreds, thousands of deaths came crashing into him all at once. He remembers the pain and the terror of every single one of them, all of them at a time when he truly believed he was human and that death was the end. It left him deeply traumatised. He hates life, and struggles to make himself care about anything other than killing— and even that is only because it's what his programming tells him to care about. With recovered memories of 300 years of torment, he's incredibly tired of life and more than anything else he wants it to end. Unfortunately for him, he can't die, as he has a seemingly endless supply of replacement bodies and is automatically transferred to a new one whenever his current one is destroyed. That's not to say he's not actively trying to make himself run out of them... just another reason why he chose to participate in the Apex Games. The one person who was able to give him what he wanted and put him out of his misery — the only person capable of retrieving his source code (his preserved human head, hardwired into the computer system that houses his programming) so that it could be destroyed — instead chose to doom him to his suffering, in revenge for him killing her parents 25 years ago. Hey, at least swearing revenge against her gave him some kind of a reason to live... right?
First Impressions
visual
Very tall, obviously robotic, somewhat skeletal in appearance. He was designed to be intimidating. Silhouette is broad (especially thanks to his shoulder plates) with a bulky chestplate and inhumanly long, thin limbs. Lower torso is a narrow, flexible spine with multiple pistons supporting the weight of his upper body.

Body language generally either very aggressive and direct or very apathetic and standoffish, depending on his mood. His posture is somewhat poor, with a tendency to slouch. When fighting or hunting down a target, his movements are extremely predatory and deliberate. When sneaking or stalking, especially when moving in a crouch or climbing around on walls or ceilings, he has been described as skittering, somewhat resembling a very large spider.

Eyes glow yellow, he does not have eyelids and so never blinks. The intensity of the light of his optics may change— for example it seems to flash brighter with strong emotions, such as when he's feeling especially murderous, or dim and flicker off briefly when in extreme pain.

Important to note is that he does not actually have a mouth, so his jaw and lips don't move when he speaks.

The only clothing he wears is a red cowl and bandana, and a red loincloth (presumably due to some lingering sense of shame from when he was human, because he sure has nothing to cover up down there).

For a visual example you can check out his intro in the season trailer here.
aural
Voice is extremely deep, with obvious distortion/reverb. Clearly sounds robotic.

Has a tendency to drawl, speaking very slowly and drawing out his words. Sometimes sounds breathy even though he doesn't actually breathe. Tone is typically apathetic, faintly amused, mocking or sarcastic, and often comes across as strangely flirtatious. In a poor mood his tone becomes much harsher, generally extremely abrupt, aggressive, direct and unapologetically ill-mannered.

He also has a habit of growling, snarling or even making weird breathy purring kind of noises because he's creepy like that.

Painfully edgy voice examples can be found here and some of my favourite stupid lines (and examples of his creepy growl-purr) here from 0:12 to 0:58. Bonus because lol.

As far as movement goes, his robotic parts make surprisingly little noise. There may be some faint whirring of gears and pistons, especially audible to those with sensitive hearing. If he's trying to be stealthy, his footsteps are also extremely quiet, though not quite silent.
olfactory
Metal, machine oil, and gunsmoke. Probably also blood, but not his (he has none).

In Noctium he's currently living in the sewers so... yeah. I'm sorry for him.
Equipment
dead man's curve
A large, foldable scythe with an extendable, whip-like blade. This weapon was developed specifically for Revenant by Hammond Robotics and glows with the same strange red-orange static as his silencer and totem.
jump kit
Built in to the back of his shell, the jump kit is a small, low-powered jetpack that allows for survivabilty on potentially fatal descents by decelerating to prevent fall damage. It does NOT allow for flight, gliding, or increased jump height, as it cannot produce the required lift.
silencer
A small device which is stored inside his left forearm and fired by extending two fingers backwards to use them like a slingshot (because he's creepy). When launched at a target it leaves behind a static-like red cloud at the point of impact which blocks other people's "abilities" if it hits them (or if they come into contact with it while it's on the field)— in the Apex universe these are all in some way technology-based rather than being supernatural, so essentially it uses some sort of electrical impulse to prevent technology from functioning for a brief period of time.
death totem
A strange piece of technology which allows him to shift into an semi-corporeal shadow form (pictured). It takes the form of a small metal skull (as seen on the side of the device) until it is deployed. It has not been explained how exactly it works, as according to the devs this is a spoiler tied to a future character.

The shadow form protects him from death for a short time— when "killed" as a shadow, his body dissolves into smoke and he is returned to the location of his totem in his normal form. This does not prevent the pain from whatever killed him as a shadow and as a result it may affect the function of his physical form. If not killed in shadow form, it eventually wears off on its own, without the recall to the totem. Destroying the totem also immediately throws him out of shadow form.

A placed totem can be used by anyone to become a shadow, it is not limited to Revenant himself. They only have to touch it.

Note: Outside of gameplay he has been shown entering his shadow form without first deploying the totem and apparently choosing where he wants to reform when destroyed. It may be that the totem is only required to avoid breaking the game to be deployed on the field to allow his squadmates to use it, while Revenant can shift as long as he has the skull device in his possession.
Abilities
combat prowess
He was once a professional hitman and considered to be the best the Syndicate had ever had. Needless to say, he's very good at killing. Highly proficient in both hand-to-hand combat and a wide variety of firearms.
enhanced strength
As a robot designed to kill, Revenant is obviously a good deal stronger than your average human. [ADD EXAMPLES]

However, he is not supernaturally strong and certainly not infallible. It's canon that he's died hundreds or even thousands of times, after all.
enhanced mobility
Capable of scaling sheer verticle surfaces with ease (e.g. climbing up the outside of a skyscraper) and even scuttling around on ceilings like a huge metal spider. Makes very little noise in motion, with very quiet (but not quite silent) footsteps and next to no sound from his mechanical parts.

He's able to "dislocate" his shoulders and hips which gives him a wider range of motion and makes his limbs even longer. One effect of this is that his movement speed isn't compromised in awkward positions, for example when crouching. His fingers also extend, and he can flatten them together and use them as a weapon to stab people with. It's creepy. He's creepy.
hacking
At one point he hacked the supposedly "unhackable" drone of the one character whose entire thing is being an extremely skilled hacker and encryption expert, and used it to spy on the other Legends. It's unclear whether this was a skill that Revenant possessed as a human or a side effect of the fact that he's essentially a computer himself now.
immortality
In the event of "death" (a system failure or the destruction of his synthetic shell), his mind is automatically copied and reuploaded into a new body. He has a lot of spare bodies... whole warehouses full of them.

Note: In Noctium, unfortunately (or fortunately?) for him, these replacement shells won't be accessible, so this ability has been nerfed.
Miscellaneous
misc. canon facts Odd little facts from quotes, quips, and dev word of god that don't fit anywhere else.

  • Despite being a robot, Revenant feels pain. [word of god]
  • His first death, as a human, was by being drugged and drowned in a sewer by one of his targets. [lorebook, possibly unreliable narrator]
  • The one piece of his programming that hasn't failed is the one that prevents him from destroying his own source code (i.e. killing himself permanently). He is physically incapable of harming it. [season 5 quest]
  • Revenant can't drive. [in-game quip]
  • His father was abusive. Revenant hints at having killed him. [in-game quip]
  • A cult formed in worship of him in the 2560s. He despises them. [lorebook]
  • Before his programming decayed enough for him to realise what he was, he had frequent nightmares of his simulacrum face. A subconscious side effect of seeing it every day but never really seeing it. [loading screen blurb]
  • He lives in the ruins of the underground warehouse in King's Canyon which Loba blew up. It contains hundreds of his replacement shells and, at one point, housed his source code. [lorebook]
  • headcanons
    Inventory
  • A foldable scythe known as "Dead Man's Curve".
  • A P2020 pistol, stolen from Octane. No ammo.
  • A monster amulet.
